Understanding the Importance of Culture in Therapy
Because of the stigma of mental illness within the Asian community, I understand how it can be difficult to reach out. Culture affects all aspects of our lives, influencing how we see ourselves and how we engage with others. I acknowledge the role of culture in therapy and its importance, as it affects our identity, sense of self, sexuality, and values.
What Makes Me Different
You will receive therapy that is designed to help you improve and find balance in all aspects of your life by treating your concerns at the source. I approach your mental health counseling and therapy treatment with these values in mind:
Efficient – I am direct and engaging, yet open and friendly. My goal is to help you gain insight to create healthy connections and achieve personal growth.
Present – I will not be a passive participant in your treatment. My clients have told me that my genuineness, humor, and a bit of sassiness are refreshing. Even though therapy can elicit intense emotions, I will be in the moment with you.
Supportive – I try to develop a genuine relationship with you to facilitate communication. I will be actively involved in your treatment during our online therapy sessions. You deserve to be heard and understood.
Theories & Modalities
I use various evidence-based therapeutic models that will be personalized to address your specific needs. My specialties include the following:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Solutions-Focused Therapy
- Humanistic Therapy
- Psychodynamic Therapy
We all go on this journey of life. We go in many directions. Though we may want it to slow down, it always keeps moving forward making us feel lost or left behind.
Therapy is a choice, not an obligation. It is about choices. It is never too late to get help. As your therapist, I will walk with you on the journey until you are ready to move forward on your own.
